LAHORE: (Wednesday, April 29, 2026): Punjab University organized a launching ceremony of an ‘Online internship’ program in collaboration with ASEAN countries here on Wednesday. On this occasion, Indonesian Ambassador Lt. Gen (r) Chandra Warsenanto, Thai Ambassador Rongvudhi Virabutr, Philippine Ambassador Dr. Emmanuel Fernandez, Malaysian High Commissioner Dato Muhammad Azhar Mazlan, Brunei Darussalam High Commissioner Colonel (r) Kamal Basha, Myanmar Ambassador Wunna Han, PU VC Prof Dr. Muhammad Ali, Director Career Counseling and Placement Center Dr. Fauzia Hadi Ali, officials from ASEAN embassies, and university authorities were present. In his address, Indonesian Ambassador Lt. Gen (r) Chandra Warsenanto said that they visited PU to strengthen relations with students. He stated that last year, 78 Pakistanis studied in Indonesia on scholarships. He added that hundreds of Pakistani students are studying in other ASEAN countries. He noted that the online internship program would help promote relations among students of PU and ASEAN countries. He further shared that they had the opportunity to work with Pakistani soldiers on UN missions and observed that Pakistani soldiers are fearless, very brave, and highly trained. Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that they would connect the youth of ASEAN countries with students of PU. He emphasized promoting mutual cooperation in science and technology. He added that current global conditions show how essential science and technology are for survival in the modern world. He said that scientists, teachers, and students would be brought together to promote joint degrees and collaborative projects. He also expressed gratitude to the ASEAN Community Islamabad for initiating the online internship program. The internship program will provide students of PU with an opportunity to learn online and enhance their professional skills.
